Can a Roof Be Repaired in Winter?
What roofing work can safely be done in cold, wet weather, and what's better left until spring.
Repairs: yes, usually
Slate and tile repairs, temporary weatherproofing and most emergency work can go ahead in winter whenever it's dry enough to work safely. Leaving a leak until spring almost always makes the damage worse.
Weather-sensitive work
Some flat-roofing systems and mortar work need minimum temperatures and dry conditions to cure properly. A responsible roofer will schedule those around the forecast rather than rush them.
Safety comes first
Ice, high winds and frost make roofs dangerous. If conditions aren't safe, we'll make the property watertight temporarily and return to finish the job properly.
